Drivers urged to obey mobile, seatbelt laws

Sat, 06 Jan 2018

Drivers who use mobile phones behind the wheel and don't wear seat belts will be targeted in a New Year crackdown by the Island's roads police.

The Isle of Man Constabulary Roads Policing Unit says it will be paying extra attention to drivers who use mobiles, as well as ensuring their seatbelts are worn correctly and child seats are properly fitted.

Officers say they focus on these areas all year round, but that these are part of the campaign calendar for New Year.

Motorists are urged not to use their phones while sat in traffic and to take an extra few minutes to ensure children are safely secured in vehicles.
