Fishing for king scallops won't be allowed in Manx waters over the festive period.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has decided to bring in a temporary closure of the king scallop fishery from today until January 3rd.
The Island's Scallop Management Board made the recommendation in order to help keep stocks sustainable.
DEFA has already reduced the daily catch limit from 1,050kg per day to 700kg to ensure there wouldn't be over-fishing.
The king scallop season runs from the start of November until the end of May.
