The Chief Minister has paid tribute to a Manx linguist and politician following his death.
Lord Randolph Quirk, who was considered one of the most important figures of 20th Century English linguistics, passed away at the age of 97 earlier this week.
Howard Quayle described Baron Quirk as a towering intellect whose work defined English language studies and one of the most influential people to come from the Island's shores.
Mr Quayle also praised Baron Quirk's work behind the scenes on the Island's reciprocal health agreement with the United Kingdom.
Baron Quirk, who was a member of the House of Lords, was knighted in 1985 and made a life peer as the Baron of Bloomsbury in 1994.
