Gas leak results in emergency road closure in Port St Mary

An emergency road closure is in place in the south of the Island due to a gas leak.

Manx Gas have had to shut Athol Street in Port St Mary because of a gas escape from a low pressure main.

The gas supplier says work is already underway to find the location of the leak and carry out repairs, but it's expected the road closure will remain in place until late tomorrow afternoon.

Manx Gas insists no properties are affected by the problem and that every effort is being made to complete the repairs as quickly as possible.
