The Island's fire service is praising the neighbours who helped a person with mobility problems get out of their third-floor flat during a fire.
Neighbours spotted smoke coming from the flat at Millennium Court on Douglas Promenade yesterday morning.
Fire crews arrived just after 10.30am to find a significant fire in the flat, while the building was starting to become heavily smoke logged.
Firefighters were quickly able to put the blaze out before ensuring everyone had been evacuated and venting the building.
Officers praised the actions of the neighbours, who knew the resident in the affected flat has mobility problems, helping them get to safety before fire crews arrived.
Crews remained at the scene for a couple of hours ensuring the fire hadn't spread, and found the most likely cause of the fire to be a toaster.
