The first fully qualified GP to be trained entirely on the Isle of Man is now working at one of the Island's surgeries.
Dr Melanie Schick has been appointed as a partner at Palatine Group Practice after completing a programme established by the Department of Health and Social Care five years ago.
Dr Schick previously worked as a doctor in orthopaedics at Noble's Hospital, but would previously have had to train off-Island to become a GP.
Those completing the course have to spend three period of six months covering specific areas at Noble's, as well as spending 18 months gaining experience in a GP practice.
The programme was established to address a shortage of GPs on the Island.
A further six trainees are currently taking part in the training scheme, with two due to qualify next year.
