Island's schools continually update approach to fake news, social media

The Education Minister says the Island's schools are continually updating the way pupils are taught about social media and fake news.

Graham Cregeen insists schools are teaching their students to demonstrate judgment and critical thinking so not to be deceived by misinformation and fake news.

The Minister confirmed his Department is looking to work with a BBC app that examines fake news.

Mr Cregeen, who was speaking in this month's sitting of Tynwald, also described social media as very detrimental to young people and adults.
