Manx pharmacists to sell Viagra over the counter

Manx residents will be able to buy Viagra over the counter in pharmacies in a bid to cut down on the number of men buying counterfeit medicine online.

Political member for Health and Social Care Ann Corlett confirmed in this month's sitting of Tynwald that the erectile dysfunction drug can now be legally purchased without prescription.

Ramsey MHK Dr Alex Allinson raised concerns that eliminating the need for men to see a GP could risk underlying medical issues going undiagnosed, but Mrs Corlett insists pharmacists will have to ask questions, and could recommend a patient go to their GP.

The changes are in response to a growing number of men turning to the internet to buy fake Viagra pills.

However, men will still need a prescription for stronger levels of the drug, with only Viagra Connect available to purchase.
