Ian Plenderleith is the new managing director of Manx Gas

The managing director of Manx Gas has stepped down from his role.

International Energy Group, which operates Manx Gas, has announced that Tony Nicholls has quit as group managing director to pursue other interests.

The position will be taken over by Ian Plenderleith, who was previously the chief executive of Dee Valley Water in North Wales.

Mr Nicholls departure from the company was announced just hours after a protest against the energy suppliers standing charges outside its headquarters in Douglas.
