Police urge motorists to stay of closed roads

The police are appealing for motorists to stay off closed roads until the snow and ice have melted.

The Roads Policing Unit stopped two drivers on the Creg-ny-Baa Back Road yesterday, while another got stuck on the Sloc Road earlier in the weekend, despite the route being closed.

Police warn those who ignore road closed signs will be stopped and face prosecution.

Officers say these drivers are preventing the Department of Infrastructure from working on the roads with snow ploughs and gritters.
