The Island's Met Office has upgraded its snow and ice warning to amber ahead of the wintry weather.
From 3pm this afternoon until 6pm on Saturday, forecasters are expecting snow to hit higher roads before gradually affecting all levels overnight.
Meteorologists at Ronaldsway say such showers are difficult to predict, but that 10cm to 15cm of snow is possible over higher ground, with 2cm to 5cm in lower areas.
The Department of Infrastructure's gritters will be deployed this afternoon to pre-treat roads, and is urging drivers to keep a safe distance behind gritting vehicles.
