Public urged to stay away from railway lines

Members of the public are being urged to stay off the Island's railway lines over the winter.

Isle of Man Transport says its been made aware of people using the Manx Electric Railway lines and Steam Railway tracks for recreational activities over the winter months when the railways aren't operating.

However, Transport bosses warn trains and trams are still running for engineering purposes and maintenance, including in the hours of darkness.

Posters will be displayed in the Island's schools to encourage residents to stay away from the tracks.
