Heavy rain results in 1200 calls to emergency services

Almost 1200 calls were made to the emergency service during last week's heavy rain.

On Wednesday, the Island was hit by heavy rain over several hours, resulting in floods and road closures across the Island.

The police's social media team revealed 1189 contacted the Emergency Services Joint Control Room on the day of the flooding, 74 of which were 999 calls.
