Committee seeks feedback on consultation changes

A Tynwald committee is seeking feedback from the public on the way consultations on new laws are held.

The Select Committee on the Functioning of Tynwald is reviewing the current draft Bill procedures.

Currently, Government departments ask for submissions from the public when a new Bill has been drafted.

However, the committee wants to know whether legislation should automatically be referred to a relevant committee first, allowing the panel to take evidence from experts in the field of the proposed new laws.

Submissions on the proposals can be submitted to the committee until January 5th.
