A person needed hospital treatment and a dog remains missing after both were swept downstream by a fast flowing river.
Ramsey Coastguard was called to the Ballaugh Glen area yesterday morning following reports that a dog had been swept into the water.
Before the team arrived at the scene, one of the dog's owners was carried downstream while searching for the animal, but managed to climb onto the riverbank a short distance downstream.
The coastguard helped the person to hospital, where they were found not to have suffered any serious injuries, while continuing to search for the dog along with Peel Coastguard.
However, after several hours and no sightings between Ballaugh Bridge and Ballaugh Cronk, the teams were stood down.
The Coastguard is reminding members of the public not to enter fast flowing water for any reason, and to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard instead.
