The Department of Health and Social Care is bringing in new a service aimed to help patients receive treatment at home.
The intermediate care is mainly aimed at older people who become unwell, allowing them to receive medical attention in their own homes, or be released from hospital more quickly.
The consultant-led care in the community will allow more people to receive treatment at home and reduce the need for a locum doctor to provide cover, saving an estimated £43,000.
In Ramsey & District Cottage Hospital, a 31-bed inpatient service is being set up to allow older people with medical problems to receive treatment without needing to be admitted to Noble's Hospital.
It's hoped the new facility will also allow those admitted to Noble's to be discharged more quickly while continuing to receive care at the northern hospital.
The DHSC believes around 20 patients at Noble's are currently medically fit for discharge, but are stranded as they would need ongoing care at home.
The new service is due to start in February next year.
