The Department of Health and Social Care spent over £210,000 to clear a backlog of clinical letters.
The Department sends an average of 330 letters to patients each day, with production taking around nine days.
For 20 months prior to August this year, the DHSC outsourced production of the letters to address the backlog that existed at that time, paying £130,000 annually.
The service was decommissioned in August, with letters now being drafted in house, although the hospital is currently reviewing the system.
Between April and September almost 41,000 letters were produced.
