The Economic Development Minister says there won't be a reduction to the new Homestay fee even if the Island is short of accommodation.
The new operator of the Homestay scheme will charge £40 per year of £75 for two years, while it has previously been £25.
Laurence Skelly told this week's sitting of the House of Keys that his Department has now entered into a contract so there won't be a review of the fees, but that the increase covers the cost of property inspections, advice, fire safety and marketing.
Douglas North MHK David Ashford expressed concern that the higher cost could put off smaller providers, having spoken to some who could stop doing Homestay.
Homestay allows Manx residents to lease property to visitors during TT and the Festival of Motorcycling, earning up to £1800 tax free.
