Police and fire crews were called out after a van was swept down a river in the north of the Island.
The vehicle and its driver were swept down the river at the Garey Ford on Saturday evening when the river was flowing fast.
The police were first to arrive at the scene, but were unable to enter the water, resulting in officers from Ramsey Fire Station being called out with specialist equipment.
The crews secured the vehicle before using hydraulic cutting gear to free the driver, who was then taken to hospital for checks.
The emergency services are urging the public not to drive or wade into flood water, or attempt to rescue someone by entering the water themselves.
