MHK wants more House of Keys sittings

An MHK will ask his colleagues to consider adding more sittings to the next parliamentary year.

Middle member Bill Shimmins wants an extra four House of Keys sittings to take place in September and October next year.

Mr Shimmins is also asking for two sittings to cancelled and an extra one to be added in June to coincide with school half term dates and the TT fortnight.

The extra dates would mean a shorter summer recess for MHKs.

At this month's sitting of Tynwald, Mr Shimmins' motion calling for an extra Tynwald sitting to be added failed to gain enough support.
