All main routes passable after storm

Over 130 trees came down during yesterday's storm, including one near the Tynwald Inn in St John's.

Police say the main arterial routes around the Island are all clear again following yesterday's storm.

The remnants of Hurricane Ophelia hit the Isle of Man yesterday evening, resulting in more than 130 trees falling, power lines coming down and waves coming over sea walls.

Officers warn that there is still a lot of debris on some roads, while Saddle Road, Tromode Road, Mount Rule Road and Queens Street outside the Saddle pub remain closed so they can be cleared during daylight hours.

Following patrols of the main roads, the Constabulary confirmed all are passable at this time, but it's expected more trees and branches will be discovered on minor roads.
