Police are urging members of the public to be alert after a local resident was contacted by a scammer claiming to be from customs.
The caller said they were from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, and that the person they were contacting owed money.
They asked for credit card details, but the intended victim refused to provide the details and ended the call before contacting the police.
Officers warn neither HMRC nor the Isle of Man Income Tax Division will make cold calls like this to obtain outstanding money.
