Manx Gas will carry out an investigation after 60 homes were left without supplies.
The properties at Janet's Corner and Castletown Promenade were cut off yesterday morning while work was being carried out in the area as part of a gas mains renewal project.
Supplies were restored this afternoon, and the supplier insists an investigation will take place to ensure there isn't a recurrence.
Engineers will remain on site as a precaution, although Manx Gas says no customers or members of the public were put in danger by the incident.
