Ayre Clay Target Club held three competitions at Blue Point at the weekend. Saturday’s shoot was the annual Pheasant Flush Championship, sponsored by Active Cleaning Services. A good turnout of 16 teams took part in the 100 target competition which was won after a shoot-off by the father and son team of Marty and Jack Kneen, scoring 79 + 43. Last year’s winners Kevin Oates and Phil Butler took second with 79 + 41. Another father and son team; Eddie and Steve Brew took third place with a score of 76.
Neil Parsons took both the league win for Olympic Trap, the 100 target Adam Slater Memorial Trophy and selection shoot on Sunday. Ted Kermeen and Mark Riley were joint second in the league shoot, with Riley coming second in the selection competition and Phil Ward taking third place.
James Bradley won the 50 target Olympic Skeet league competition, scoring 42/50. Dan Shacklock was second on 39 with Dave Clague in third on 38. Bradley went on to win the 100 target selection shoot on 79. Shacklock was second with Clague third.
This week at Blue Point there is a 50 target English Sporting League competition, sponsored by Harding Lewis Limited. Grumpy Wayne is in charge, entries close at 10.15am; don’t be late.
