Children's home child abuse committee renews call for evidence

Tue, 12 Sep 2017

A committee looking into historical child abuse at  former children's home on the Island wants to make it easier for people to submit their evidence.

The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee was appointed to look into allegation of historical abuse at Knottfield Children's Home, reporting back to Tynwald March.

The committee previously invited written submissions from members of the public, but is still urging more people to come forward.

The panel insists submissions don't have to be detailed, won't be published without consent of the individual and can be discussed with the clerk on the phone.

Details of how to get in touch with the committee can be found on Tynwald's website.

Meanwhile, MHK Martyn Perkins has stepped down from the inquiry as his daughter is a member of the Isle of Man Constabulary's Public Protection Unit, which is involved in the investigation.
