UK round pounds to remain legal tender in IoM

The Island's Treasury is reminding the Manx public that the UK round pounds will remain legal tender on the Isle of Man.

The round coins will stop being legal tender in the UK next month following the introduction of the 12-sided pound coin earlier this year.

However, as UK round coins are spent here, they will be sorted and sent back to the UK by banks, eventually leaving only Manx round coins alongside the new style UK coin.

The Isle of Man Treasury decided not to bring in a 12-sided coin here, releasing a new round coin instead.
