The Government has appointed an Equality Champion to support the introduction of the Equality Act.
Jane Poole-Wilson, who was elected to the Legislative Council earlier this year, will support the implementation of the new legislation, which was given royal ascent in July.
Mrs Poole-Wilson plans to hold a consultation on a timetable to introduce the Act and raise awareness of the new laws.
The Act aims to deal with discrimination against race, religion, sexual orientation, disability and age, as well as a range of other areas.
The new laws are being brought in in phases, with all provisions expected to be in place by January 2020.
