The Department of Education and Children will urge anyone who comes forward with details of historic child abuse to contact the police.
The information was revealed in a Freedom of Information request asking about the Department's policy on dealing with claims against ex or current employees.
The response confirmed it would encourage those with allegations to speak to the Public Protection Unit.
Tynwald recently voted to investigate allegations of historic abuse at a children's home on the Island which closed in the 80s, as well as conduct a review into the current protections for children in care.
