The Island's Health Minister insists the safety of patients will always be a priority when it comes to managing her Department's finances.
Kate Beecroft had to ask Tynwald for an extra £11.1m earlier this year to ensure the Department of Health and Social Care could fund its services for the remainder of the financial year.
In an update on spending, Mrs Beecroft pledged to use resources freed from efficiency gains in a balanced way, investigating in services as well as meeting budget requirements.
The Minister wants to ensure the safety of patients, as well as giving those receiving treatment a broader choice.
She added that there is still a huge amount of work going on to ensure the Department is effective and efficient.
