King's Reach in Ramsey will close later this year.

The Health Minister insists she's confident the Island has enough care beds to cope with the closure of a nursing home in the north of the Island.

Kate Beecroft confirmed in this month's sitting of Tynwald that there are 47 vacancies with registered care homes with nursing, while there are 36 residents at King's Reach in Ramsey.

The Minister revealed her Department monitors vacancies on a weekly basis, and believes it will be able to transfer patients from King's Reach to other homes when it shuts in October.

Mrs Beecroft says the DHSC will work to ensure residents have to move as few times as possible.

The Island has a total of 936 care home beds, 454 of which are registered as care home beds with nursing.
