Police officers are praising the courage of a 10-year-old boy who was the victim of rape.
18-year-old Aidan McMahon of Ramsey was sentenced to six and a half years in jail after being convicted of raping the boy last October.
Detective Sergeant Nick Haxby of the Public Protection Unit said the victim had the courage to tell someone what happened and later tell the police.
Officers also thanked the boy's family for their support throughout the case.
The Public Protection Unit is encouraging any victim of sexual abuse to speak to officers for support, guidance and advice.
