Application submitted for environmentally friendly hostel

Planning permission is being sought for an environmentally friendly hostel in Douglas.

The new owner of a building on Murray's Road wants to refurbish the 12-bedroom property, making it into an 11-bed 4* hostel.

The site would include eight ensuite rooms, a further three rooms with a communal bathroom, a communal kitchen, laundrette and bike rental unit.

The owner wants the hostel to be environmentally friendly, including offering solar barbecues, installing energy efficient appliances and promoting cycling instead driving to guests.
