Health bosses are praising patients, staff and visitors at Noble's Hospital after 450 days without MRSA.
The Department of Health and Social Care says the commitment and vigilance of those using the hospital has helped it achieve a zero MRSA bloodstream infection rate over the last 15 months.
The Department introduced screening for the superbug when patients are admitted and MRSA care pathways to eradicate the infection.
The bug is resistant to common antibiotics, making it difficult to treat.
Cases of MRSA can happen in hospitals as those who have had surgery, urinary catheters or drips can be more at risk of infection.
