The Isle of Man Post Office is urging Foxdale residents to use their local post office in a bid to save the facility.
The Post Office announced earlier this year that it was closing the Foxdale branch in August, but has now decided to keep the site open until the end of the year.
The organisation says the decision comes following talks with customers and Patrick Commissioners.
The sub-postmaster, Ellan Vannin Fuels, handed in their resignation earlier this year, stating the drop in transactions was costing them money.
EVF now plans to monitor the performance of the post office counter closely over the coming months to determine whether it can continue to operate in the New Year.
