Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson insists ties are an essential item for male MHKs.
The Speaker of the House of Keys insists MHKs will still be expected wear ties during sittings.
Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow announced this week that it's not essential for MPs to wear ties to Westminster.
Garff MHK Daphne Caine took to Twitter to ask Juan Watterson whether he would make the same change in the House of Keys.
However, the Speaker confirmed male MHKs will still be required to wear ties, and that there is nothing to stop female members doing the same.
