Ramsey Town Commissioners have announced they've agreed terms with the Department of Home Affairs to purchase Ramsey Courthouse.
The deal has been given formal consent by the Treasury, and it's hoped the transfer will be completed by the end of August.
In exchange for the freehold title of the Courthouse and grounds, the Commissioners have agreed to give the Department a 25-year lease on the police office at Ramsey Town Hall at a nominal rent and make an £80,000 payment.
The local authority believe the deal won't have a major impact on the town's finances.
The Commissioners will have access to the building while the legal process is completed, and plan some short-term exhibitions and events before looking at the longer-term use of the building.
