Chimney reminder from fire service

Fire safety officers are urging local residents to ensure their chimneys are regularly swept after tackling a fire.

Crews from Douglas were called out yesterday morning to deal with a chimney fire in Drinkwater Street.

By the time the firefighters had arrived, the blaze had taken hold in the flue.

Two firefighters went up in the aerial appliance cage to put the fire out.
