No more than three people have been fined for smoking in a car with a child since new laws were brought in last year.
Since March last year, it's been illegal to smoke in a car that's also carrying a person under 16 years old.
Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey revealed in Tynwald that the police don't record what each individual motorist is stopped for.
However, three fixed penalty notices have been issued for 'other' offences, which could include breaching smoking laws.
Mr Malarkey believes the potential figure is so low because the legislation acts as a deterrent.
