Health chiefs say moving all endoscopy services to Noble's Hospital will create an additional 21 hours of clinic time each week.
The Department of Health and Social Care is ending endoscopy clinics at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital, moving staff and equipment to Noble's.
In a letter to Ramsey Town Commissioners, Health Minister Kate Beecroft insists the change will allow her Department to run six extra clinics each week, as well as reducing the amount of time doctors spend travelling between the two hospitals.
The waiting time for an endoscopy appointment is currently around 33 weeks - the DHSC hopes to cut this to six weeks within a year.
Over 1600 people are currently on the waiting list for endoscopy services.
