Rachel Glover came back from the British Championships at Bisley with a bronze medal in the Women's Prone event but she had to endure a testy time on the range as technical problems got in the way.
'I was originally on firing point 30 which had failed during the men's Three-Position event earlier in the morning,' explained Rachel. 'The range jury cleaned out the target between the matches and figured it was OK to use.
'I got through my sighters OK and started shooting the match. Three tens shot and then a random 8.8! While I was deciding whether to call the jury or shoot another shot to see if the target was really knackered, the jury interrupted me and told me that the rubber band in the target had jammed (just like it had in the men's 3P).
'They'd been watching it for problems and they moved me to another firing point. While I was sighting in, it became apparent that the 35 metre wind flag was going to be in front of the target most of the time - so yet another move!
'Once I was on FP47 everything was fine and I finally had a target that worked. I also managed to finish the match without any extra time!'
'I had a really good weekend, considering I haven't had any training time in the last month. I really can't complain with bronze in the prone and 6th in the 3P considering how hectic my life is at the moment!'
