The Infrastructure Minister is working on a more formal system for dealing with the potential impact of roadworks on businesses.
The Department of Infrastructure carries out assessments on the potential impact of roadwork schemes, but this doesn't mean companies are always happy with the impact works have on their business.
Ray Harmer told this week's sitting of the House of Keys that his Department is developing a more formal approach on the potential impacts.
He wants the DoI to record issues such as traffic volumes, diversion routes and the nature of affected business before schemes go ahead.
However, Mr Harmer insists the Department does not stop any business from operating, and that most understand good quality roads are essential for their businesses in the long term.
