The nuclear power station adjacent to the Steam Packet Terminal at Heysham is being guarded by the British Army.
Soldiers have been drafted in to protect the power plant after officers from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary were deployed elsewhere.
The move is in response to the British Government's decision to raise the terror threat level to critical following Monday's attack in Manchester.
Similar arrangements are in place at Sellafield in Cumbria, which is just over 30 miles away from the Island.
Staff at both sites have trained and exercised for this scenario.
