Over 1,000 homes in the north of the Island were without power following a failure in Manx Utilities' North Shore substation.
Power went off for around 1,150 customers in Ramsey yesterday evening as a result of a rupture of switchgear, which the authority says would have been heard by those in the area.
Over half of those affected had power restored within 30 minutes, but around 500 were without electricity for over three hours while repairs were carried out.
Workers remained in the area through the night making network repairs.
