DED reiterates need to protect TT brand

Wed, 24 May 2017

A member of the Department of Economic Development says commercial partners won't be able to make a return from their investment if the Government doesn't protect the TT brand.

The DED has come under fire in recent months for charging the RNLI for using the TT name, while threatening legal action against a local brewery and crafters.

In a statement in the House of Keys, Rob Callister warns that not cracking down on unauthorised use of the name or logo has a number of risks, including loss of direct revenue and loss for official partners.

Mr Callister also predicts third parties using the name without permission could damage the Department and the event by using faulty electronics, adult material and spoilt foodstuffs.

Those interesting in using the TT name on their goods can contact the Department at ttbranding.ded@gov.im.
