'Excalibur' moment for Gemma Kermode

Gemma Kermode was awarded a Wilkinson sword in recognition of her outstanding contribution to sport at the recent Isle of Man Shooting Club prize-giving ceremony.

With King Arthur doing the rounds in cinemas, Gemma, who has competed in the Commonwealth Games is on quest of her own -  to make the Manx team for next year's games in Gold Coast.

The Laxey shooter also took away another trophy on the day, for winning the Ladies Championship, after an association barbecue held at the Sinclair Range.

In the fourth round of the Osborn Carpets competition, Michael Duncalf produced a strong performance to win Class A with a score of 614 points.

Class B was won by Alex Trafford who edged out Sharon Drysdale and Matthew Roosen won Class C.

Another Kirk Michael shooter, Alex Trafford, won the latest round, fending off the challenge of Matthew Roosen. Alex's growing consistency and drive for the sport saw him net a bag of trophies at the prize-giving, too.
