One of the Island's lifeboat crews will be able to carry out rescues twice as fast when it receives its new lifeboat.
Peel RNLI has been informed it will receive a new Shannon class lifeboat in 2021, replacing its current Mersey class vessel.
The Shannon class is almost twice as fast and if the first lifeboat to use waterjets, making it the most agile and manoeuvrable all-weather lifeboat available.
Peel lifeboat crew believe the new lifeboat will allow the team to reach those needing help in half the time, and will be spending the next four years developing their skills to prepare for the new lifeboat.
16 people were rescued in 12 callouts by the current Peel lifeboat last year.
