The Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister has revealed water samples are being tested for suspected sewage contamination at Groudle Glen.
A property owner was recently taken to court for allowing sewage to pollute the river, but that problem has now been fixed.
However, Geoffrey Boot revealed that during a recent inspection of the glen, DEFA officers found another area of concern on the land next to Groudle Glen Cottages.
Mr Boot confirmed the water samples have been sent for testing, and that signs will be put up warning of the risk if the water is found to be polluted.
The Minister also reiterated that his Department isn't responsible for maintaining the water wheel in Groudle Glen, insisting Onchan District Commissioners would be responsible for any work to fix the structure.
