The Infrastructure Minister insists his Department needs to listen to the views of Ramsey residents before progressing a major roadwork scheme.
It was revealed yesterday that the reconstruction of Lezayre Road has been put back by a year, and now won't start until after TT 2018.
Ray Harmer admits the decision was taken after hearing the views of locals and politicians for the area.
It's hoped delaying the works will allow the Department to hear from schools and businesses, as well as giving the DoI time to see if the duration of the roadworks can be reduced.
It's the second time the scheme has been delayed, having initially been due to get underway last September.
