John McGuinness will miss this year's TT after fracturing his leg and suffering broken vertebrae and ribs at the North West 200.
The 23-time TT winner crashed during practice at the Northern Ireland event earlier this week.
The 45-year-old sustained a compound fracture to his right lower leg which will need an external fixator, four broken vertebrae and three broken back ribs.
Honda Racing revealed McGuinness will spend the next week in hospital while recovering, and will have to wear a cast for up to six weeks to fix his vertebrae.
The team withdrew from the remainder of the North West 200 as a precaution while the Superbike undergoes a detailed analysis.
