A new Government-owned care home has opened its doors to patients for the first time.
The purpose-built facility on Salisbury Street in Douglas to provide care and nursing for the Island's older people.
The care home was built privately, but the Government decided to buy it for £7.9m last year to increase its capacity.
40 of the 68 rooms will be reserved for patients whose care is funded through benefits.
It's expected the Island's over 65 population will increase by around 10,000 by 2036, resulting in the need for around 400 extra care beds.
